2019 - Golf Pride

Champion: Dean

Winning Team: Putt Blugs. Duncan (c), Smez, Alex, Laurence, Simon, Khalid.

2019. New courses, new venue, new players!!! Bomo went to Brighton this year, taking in the sea side for three days of boozing and a smattering of golf between drinks. Captains Dave and Duncan brought the lads down to the south coast to fill the lungs with sea air on three varied courses and were rewarded with golf to match the occasion. The golf brought some of the best scores ever on a bomo weekend with excellent competition throughout the weekend and the nightlife brought new levels of all night stamina and some sore, not to say confused heads on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Well done everyone for surviving and making this one of the best!

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside

Pride in the Name of Golf

Day One

Day one was at Singing Hills. Low scoring starts with 82's from Smez and Alex, 84 from Dean and 85 from Luuuuke. Paul and Khalid were in the chase with 88 and 87 respectively. Work to do for Dave (94), Duncan (93) and Jim(94). In the over 100s, Simon hit it on the head with 100 flat, Laurence and Shan resuming their rivalry with 109 each.

Day Two

East Brighton was the venue for Saturday's golf. Windy and on top the cliffs near Brighton, it was a great course with a decent challenge for some rusty heads reflected in (most) scores. Paul shot the only round under 90 with a fine 86,Dean, Alex and Dave shooting low 90s for decent stableford points. Smez's challenge as defending champion looked under pressure as he shot 94. 2 points separated Dean (72), Alex(72) and Paul(70).

Day Three

Sunday's course was Hollingbury, a well maintained public course in northern Brighton, traversed by as many dog walkers as golfers. It was a wet drizzly morning and there were some seriously sorry looking heads attempting to (a) get to the course and (b) be able to hit a ball. Alex's challenge failed after losijg the 1st 5 holes in matchplay to Dean and came 5th. Khalid went full moving day and posted 33 points to finish a decent 4th for a man with little sleep. Simon came storming out of nowhere with 42 points for the best individual score of the week and a move into joint 2nd with Paul, who shot a fine 35 pointer himself. But the champion was Dean, who not only maintained but upped his form with a crushing 84 for 40 points to end the weekend on 112 points, 7 clear of the field and a well deserved champion!
