Day One

The first day was on the Roman Road course. Some of us thought this would be the easiest of the three. We were wrong! Hills, very fast greens and a mixture of tough approach shots, woods and rough to eat balls and general enthusiasm getting the better of golf meant scoring was wide! Shan and Smez showed the way with fine performances, a cheeky 37 points from Shan leading day one. Duncan's attempts to introduce catch up rules were strongly rejected!!!

Day Two

Twenty20. Actually 2024. Another tough day for many of the field, the risk reward nature of this famous course would have been a challenge if we could hit the ball onto the fairways in the first place. Some proper rank scoring across the majority, except for again Shan with 32 (after being cut 2 shots overnight) and Smez keeping him honest with 28 points. Both good scores with many sore heads from the previous night out in Cardiff.

Day Three

Even more tired, quite broken and just about all on the tee in time. Celtic Manor's kind of disorganised form filling exercises got to the better of quite a few people but we made it out on time with an unlucky one ball playing through on the first! Scoring again was tough, Shan and Smez being cut again but the chasing pack never getting close at all. These two fought it out, Shan's form finally giving up meaning he only shot 20 points. Smez I think really thought he had done enough with another consistent 27 pointer, but he fell two points shy. Great finish with a bit of suspense until the scores were read out. Well done all!
